Background

A young lost orphan, Aulbaux was chanced upon by an elezen couple who were returning from outside the city walls. Taking great pity on the tiny Viera face down in the snow, they smuggled him into the city, and despite their poor standing, plus the fact they had a biological child, they decided to raise him as their own, giving him the name "Aulbaux Sulie." However, leaving the house was a problem, since Ishgard had next to no Vieras around, he would stand out pretty easily, and with how much the people of Ishgard distrusted foreigners, it didn't bode well for him. As a result, he was rarely able to leave the tiny home, but his new parents were able to still provide him and his brother with some sort of education, no matter how minuscule it was.When he was 12, his brother (now 17) left to begin training as a Dragoon, hoping to raise the family's name and standing with his future deeds in battle. Alas, this was not to be. A year into the training, the camp was swarmed by dragons, and he perished in the ensuing conflict. He still remembers the sound of his mother's cries when she was told the news.When he was 16, his parents were killed at the request of a highborn, who claimed that he heard them decrying the name of Halone. They were arrested and excuted within the day. Aulbaux, not being able to fight, was unable to offer himself as a champion for his father's trial by combat request, and watched helplessly as his parents were slaughtered in the courthouse.A couple of months later, a 17 year old Aulbaux, aimlessly wandering around Ishgard, stumbled upon something, which upon closer inspection, seemed to be a small stone with a purple, red and black colouring. Curiosity getting the better of him, he picked up, eyes widening in both confusion and surprise as it started to glow in his hand. From there, he heard a voice coming from the shadows that caught his attention. Turning his attention towards the direction of the voice, he watched as a figure draped from head to toe in armour approached him, which made the teen Viera nervous. Though there was no need for this, as the figure explained that what Aulbaux was holding was a 'Soul crystal', and asked Aulbaux if he would like to train as a Dark Knight. Figuring that it would be better then being vulnerable, weak and alone, Aulbaux accepted the offer. The next few months were spent training, unlocking the abilities contained within and him spending plenty of time trying to research the history of Dark Knights, often with no success unless it came from his new teacher.Half a year later, he found the guy was responsible for the death of his parents and challenged him to a fight to the death. The elezen male, upon seeing Aulbaux, laughed before accepting, believing that'd be an easy fight. After all, Aulbaux wasn't the most imposing figure, in the ensuing fight, he got caught with a blade to his face, which led to the scar over his eye. Seeing this, the man laughed, starting to taunt him over his parents death. This was a breaking point. Blood pouring down his face, he pushed himself up, overcoming the injury and allowing the darkness to build up inside him, now uncaring as he mercilessly slaughtered the other man. Afterwards, he collapsed to his knees, eyes closed tight, fighting against the darkness. While it came close to fully over taking him and killing him as a result, Aulbaux was able to temper these emotions, now understanding where a Dark Knight's true power came from.Upon turning 18, he decided to pack up what little he owned, and left Ishgard to become a fully fledged adventuer. Both to explore the world outside the city walls and now to help a greater number of people in Eorzea. While he wasn't able to protect his family, they had imprinted on him a desire to help others.Now 22, he still wanders Eorzea, undertaking commissions in all places across Hydaelyn, and doing what he can to help people in need, while still trying to find out what he can about his early years before ending up in Ishgard, along with dealing with his internal conflicts.

Personality:Initally, Aulbaux is a stoic, mysterious individual, preferring to keep to himself at the best of times, however, this starts to change the more a person gets to know him. He doesn't like to talk much, though he will speak if a situation calls for it, but he clearly cares about others, as evidenced by how likely he is to step into a dangerous situation if it means saving or helping someone. He also doesn't mind getting his hands bloody, having no quarrels about killing, whether it's killing someone who's commited henious acts or whether it's in self defence.
